The summary of proceedings prepared with the request to lift the immunity of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Van MP Tuğba Sezer who had paid a condolences visit for the perpetrator of Ankara attack on February 17 has been sent to the Prime Ministry.
President Erdoğan had expressed on his meeting with the village headpersons today (March 16) “We need to bring the issue of immunities immediately to an end”.
What had happened?
Van Public Prosecution Office had launched two separate investigations into Hezer on charge of "propagandizing for terror organization" for visiting tent of condolence on February 21, and her speech following the march on February 15, the anniversary of bringing Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan to Turkey.
Public Prosecution determining that the charges pressed on Hezer constituted a legal crime, had requested the parliamentary immunity of Hezer be removed on the basis of Article no.83 of the Constitution, and the summary of proceedings was referred to the Ministry of Justice. (YY/DG)
