Minister of Labor and Social Security, Süleyman Soylu facing protests has left 15th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of Revolutionary Workers' Unions (DİSK).
The protests began as the minister entered the hall.
Soylu left the hall upon chanting. In the statement he made outside, Soylu said “I don’t accept chanting calling our president ‘murderer and thief’”.
“I can take it if it was against myself. Of course that can be said but one of the slogans shouted was ‘you will account for’.
“We accounted to nation on November 1 [general elections]. That is why it is very wrong to mix working life to ideology”.
Administrators and member workers of DİSK marched to Ministry of Labor and Social Security from National Library in Ankara against conveyance of severance pay to fund.
General Assembly
Many MPs participate 15th General Assembly of DİSK including People’s Republican Party (CHP) President, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair, Selahattin Demirtaş.
International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) President João Antonio Felicio, ITUC Deputy Secretary-General Jaap Wienan, and European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) Secretary-General Luca Visentini will be in Turkey for international activities within the scope DİSK General Assembly being organized between February 12-14, 2016.
ITUC delegation representing 180 million workers from 160 countries will hold talks in Turkey.
Union representatives from Germany, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Palestine, Georgia, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Cyprus, Lebanon, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Tunisia, Greece are in the delegation consisting of 30 people. (YY/TK)
