Expressing that they have been observing the operations in Kurdish provinces, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the Turkish Government to treat the issue with political solutions.
According to a report on BBC News Turkey, the following statement has been issued on the official web page of the Ministry:
“Civilian deaths mentioned”
“We are watching the escalating violence arising from the compelling operations run by Turkish authorities in Southeastern Turkey resided by Kurdish population with concern.
“Human rights organizations point out to civilian deaths including women and children.
“Still curfews are being imposed in some settled areas, and the freedom of action is being restricted. Politicians, journalists and representatives of human right organizations are prohibited from entering regions where the operation continues”.
“A political solution needed for the Kurdish question”
“In some regions, food shortage and difficulties in obtaining basic needs is being experienced and a situation close to human disaster has occurred. Some news report the total number of persons forced to leave their houses as 100,000.
“We call on the Turkish government immediately to take actions ending the violence and to get back to the peace process which had been undermined in July 2015.
“A political solution must be developed for the Kurdish question. Trying to solve internal matters with measures based on using force would only increase the tension and bring unexpected consequences”. (EKN/DG)
