Specialized Sergeant Killed in Sur

During armed conflicts in Sur district of Diyarbakır, a specialized sergeant has been killed and six persons including five soldiers injured due to an explosion in Yıkıkkaya street in Hasırlı neighbourhood.

Following the explosions, the injured have been brought to hospital.

The armed conflicts in Sur proceed.

Diyarbakır has been under curfew since December 2. The curfew was temporarily lifted only once on December 11 for 17 hours.

Tarsus

Today, the funeral of 13 year old Davut Özer who had been killed during a protest yesterday night (December 22) in Tarsus has been held.

Slogans in Kurdish and Turkish have been shouted during the funeral which thousands attended.

Özer was shot to death on December 22 on his belly on the protest against the curfews in the Southeast which he had attended. (YY/DG)
