A press meeting was held today (December 18) with the participation of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, Demoractic Regions’ Party (DBP) Co-Chair Kamuran Yüksek, Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-Spokesperson Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-Chairs Hatip Dicle and Selma Irmak.
HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş criticizing curfews and operations carried out in the cities embraced the resistance.
On the other hand, DTK Co-Chair Hatip Dicle said the state abandoned negotiation table based on three reasons: Developments in Rojova, Democratic Union Party (PYD) obtaining international legitimacy and June 7 general election results.
Demirtaş: They may clean only sewage
“HDP told what Turkey’s regime should be in its party program, electoral declaration, and in parliament, and that regime is self-government. Our party stands by Kurdish people against the war waged by AKP (Justice and Development Party) Government.
“The Prime Minister and the President becoming as timid as a mouse after challenging Putin, the PM and the President sending troops to Mosul and withdrawing them faintheartedly after challenging the world, the PM and the President coming to terms with Israel in exchange for $20 million after playing the tough by ‘One Minute’ outburst; do you become tough people when it comes to Kurds?
“Is it your understanding to wage a war with six generals just because there are a couple of PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) members in Cizre? You’ve just revealed how pathetic, desperate you are.
“Yes, you blow up the mosques by tanks, and like it’s not enough you claim on your channels that residents set the mosque on fire. State forces burned Kursunlu Mosque.
“Half of Turkey might be backing you up even you steal, commit theft, but what about the other half?
“Take a look at their newspapers. It is supposedly a huge wiping off operation. Who do you think you are? Who are you wiping off from where? You may only clean the sewage of these lands.
“We haven’t stolen anybody’s property, invaded or seized their lands, burnt anyone’s village, nor prohibited anyone’s language. It is state itself acting unlawfully.
“The Prime Minister, the President act unlawfully. Will they complain to prosecutor? Prosecutors are imprisoned. Will they issue a press statement? The journalists are imprisoned”.
Dicle: The state abandoned negotiation table based on three subjects
“The issue was at a stage in which problems could be solved.
“Three subjects have caused the state to abandon the talks. First subject is developments in Rojava and PYD increasingly obtaining international legitimacy.
“The second is, two cantons in Rojava uniting with in alliance with international community forces.
“The third is, concept of war has come to the agenda following defeat of AKP and HDP gaining strength in June 7 elections. We all have started to undergo a painful period.
“Self-government is a right, a demand, and it is legitimate. Thus, we as DTK with all our other institutions embrace the struggle”.
Kürkçü: Other peoples should support solution
HDK Co-Spokesperson Ertuğrul Kürkçü said they as HDK will carry the voice of peoples of Turkey to DTK General Assembly and build common politics of Turkey and Kurdistan.
“All government leaders have to face to deal with two major issues. One is that they realized they have an unrestrainable army, and two they try to use their mind to solve Kurdish question. However, before long status quo prevails, army manifests its true power”, said Kürkçü.
“They see their end as soon as they say there is no such thing as Kurdish question. Erdoğan’s might governance will see that as well. We take responsibility”.
Kürkçü stating Kurdish question shouldn’t be left to Kurdish people only said, “They will indeed see what they want to see. Nevertheless, other peoples should provide support in solution of this question. I want to call to İzmir. You had said earlier Kurdish people are our brothers and sisters. Your Kurdish siblings are in trouble. Lend us your hand or never speak of fraternity again. When will there be fraternity if not now? If government and parliament cannot solve this issue, then what are peoples, NGOs, organizations for? Will they merely be restricted to their own occupational borders?” (EKN/TK)
