Prime Ministry Foreign Affairs Undersecretary, Feridun Sinirlioğlu, and Head of Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MİT), Hakan Fidan, have made statements as to the meeting held with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al Abadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim al Jaafari, and Minister of Defense Khalid al Obaidi.
The written statement said, “In the talks our respect for Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity was emphasized, our determination concerning support we give to Iraqi administration in the fight against DEAŞ (ISIS-Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) was confirmed”.
“Matter of redrafting military staff to Bashiqa camp where Iraqi volunteers come are trained by us to fight against ISIS has been agreed upon by taking Iraqi Government’s sensitivities into account. Furthermore, it has been agreed to initiate a new operation to form new mechanisms ensuring to deepen cooperation with Iraqi Government in the area of security”.
Sinirlioğlu and Fidan went to Iraq as Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu’s special envoy yesterday, on December 10. (YY/TK)
