People's Democratic Party (HDP) Group Interim Chairman Pervin Buldan and Istanbul deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder from Kurdish Delegation on the Resolution Process held a meeting with Vice PM Yalçın Akdoğan.
Sırrı Süreyya Önder made a statement after the meeting, saying that a new process had begun.
Some of the highlights from Önder’s statement are as follows:
Experience
* “We had several problematic and fragile moments. There are many reasons for that. However, the main reasons is that our political history has no record of such negotiation process.
“Indeed neither the state nor democratic powers nor resisting powers have this practice. During this process, we tried to advance by accumulating our own. We try to advance by taking the example of all post-conflict resolution experiences in the world.
New process
* “We had a fragile moment especially during the Kobane Resistance. [Protests on October 4 and 5 condemning the ISIS advance in Kobane left at least 18 dead across Turkey] According to what we have advanced so far, we can say that we moved forward.
“After evaluating all with our party officials, we will head out to Imrali [to meet with PKK leader Öcalan] and then meet with KCK authorities [in Qandil Mountain].
“Later on, the talks will have more depth and be more target-oriented.”
Roadmap
* “For us, the roadmap is as soon as possible! We have an approach to finish tomorrow’s work today.
“A frequent traffic of talks will begin."
Basis for agreement
Responding to the inquiry “What do you mean by new process?” Önder said the following:
“We are going to resolve this matter. We are not the ones demanding this, we are the democratic willingness. We would like everyone to be a part of this. This is the only way we can pave a mutual future. If everything was shiny, that would be against the dialectic of things. This is an effort to reach a basis for agreement.” (YY/BM)
