KCK Executive Council Co-Presidency released a statement on the ongoing peace process, urging the Turkish government to take concrete steps as soon as possible.
Kurdish movement has done for its part but the Turkish government delayed the process by not taking any concrete steps, the statement said.
“There is nothing left expect the government’s mentality to not take any steps forward.”
Some of the highlight from the statement are as follows:
* Withdrawal of [our] armed forces was a manifestation of willingness. The Kurdish Liberation Movement has paved the way for Turkish governments to take steps forward. Instead of appreciating this and having series steps forward, we observe no progress. And on the contrary, we observe that Turkish government is constructing new patrol stations and dams, hiring new village guards. We also observe that some gangs are attacking Kurds in Rojava [in Syria], and arrests are being made. These alone show how Turkish government is not approaching this issue seriously.
* We are taking PM’s remarks on “they haven’t pulled their forces. Those who withdrew must be either children, women or elderly” as a sign of finding excuses to not to do anything.
* They [The Turkish government] will not accept Kurdish people’s essential governing rights, they will not accept Kurdish people’s education rights. How will they resolve this issue then? How will they resolve the issue without laying out the best condition for Leader Apo, the most influential actor of the process and Kurdish people’s most respected leader? Have the Wise People brought up these essential issues in their report?
* Without creating any further excuses, AKP must take steps forward for the resolution of the Kurdish issue. Both the Leader of Kurdish people and Kurdish Liberation Movement have done their part. There is nothing left expect the government’s mentality to not take any steps forward.
* There are talking about new judicial reforms. However, PM’s remarks and whatever we see on the media show that this is only about gaining time. Any unliterary steps taken without discussing with BDP and Kurdish people’s Leader will not fulfill any expectations. (NV/BM)
