Journalist Şifa Gerdi, the Rûdaw TV’s Output Director, has lost her life in an explosion during coverage of the operation going on against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Syrian city of Mosul.
Cameraman Yunus Mustafa has been also injured in the explosion.
Gerdi lost her life by a bomb being detonated, Rudaw reported.
Who is Şifa Gerdi?
Born in 1986, Gerdi graduated from Computer Technical Institute in 2006 and Selahaddin University in 2013.
Starting journalism in 2006, Gerdi worked as a teacher in addition to practicing journalism from 2007 to 2010.
One of the founders of Rûdaw Media Group, Gerdi hosted a program titled “Focus Mosul” from the beginning of Mosul offensive. Gerdi was closely following the development by going to the fronts as a war correspondent. (EA/TK)
