People’s Defence Forces (HPG) has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack on Midyat Security Directorate in Mardin province in southeastern Turkey yesterday (June 8).
HPG in its statement has claimed that 30 police officers have been killed and declared that the attack had been carried out by “Dirok Amed” code-named İshak Katar.
Following the attack, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım had announced that three persons one of which was a police officer, had lost their lives in the explosion and at least 30 others were injured. Dicle News Agency (DİHA) had reported that there had been 34 persons injured. Fırat News Agency (ANF) in its report based on the information acquired by hospital authorities had announced that over 20 police officers had been killed.
Anadolu News Agency (AA) has reported today (June 9) that including the injured police officer losing his life today, six persons three of which were police officers had lost their lives in total and 51 persons 23 of which were civilians were injured.
The names of the police officers who have lost their lives are: Şerife Özden Kalmış, Nefize Özsoy ve Ökkeş Özdemir iken, hayatını kaybeden siviller; Fahrettin Ekinci, Bekir Sayan and Hayriye Sayan.
A temporary gag order has been issued by Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) on the explosion in Midyat district of Mardin. (BK/DG)
