The identity of the suicide bomber carrying out the bomb attack on İstiklal street of Istanbul’s one of the most central and crowded places of Taksim Square has been has been declared as Mehmet Öztürk
Ala: Related with DAEŞ terrorist organization
Minister of Interior Affairs Efkan Ala has declared the identity of the suicide bomber on his press conference: “The person, the terrorist in question is Mehmet Öztürk born in 1992 and registered in Gaziantep.The current findings show that the terrorist has been affiliated with the terrorist organization DAEŞ (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria)”.
DNA samples from his family
Earlier, DNA samples taken from Öztürk’s family had been compared to his DNA samples in the Forensic Medicine Institution and Doğan News Agency has reported that the samples had matched.
Öztürk’s father and sibling have been taken into custody in Antep.
24 year-old Öztürk had a record in the Security Department suspected of being a member of the Islamic State. Following examination of the images on the camera records, DNA samples had been taken from his family.
His father and brother who had also given a testimony in the police department earlier had stated that Mehmet Öztürk had left home in 2013 and they had rarely talked to him since then. (AS/DG)
