Group of Communities in Kurdistan (KCK) Executive Council Co-Chair Cemil Bayık made a statement on the bomb attack in Ankara yesterday (February 18).
In his talk with Fırat News Agency (ANF), Bayık has noted; “We don’t know who has carried it out. But we know from earlier that there have been such practices of retaliation for the massacres in Kurdistan”.
“Ankara attack could be retaliation”
Bayık’s remarks on the attack in Ankara are as follows:
“The attack in the center of militarism in Ankara could be a retaliation for the inhuman genocide. “We don’t know who has carried it out. But we know from earlier that there have been such practices of retaliation for the massacres in Kurdistan. The ones carrying out the attack would probably declare the reasons soon.
“Yet one thing is clear that the acts of retaliation is understandable in such an environment in which such a cruel war is being carried out against the Kurds. A state which massacres the youngs and civilians in Cizre has no right to ask why such requital actions are being taken. The extent of the consequences of these actions is not even one percentage of what is being done in Kurdistan.
“We don’t know who carried out the attack but if the intellectuals, writers, press workers and politicians of Turkey do not oppose against this cruelty of the state of Turkey, the furious young Kurds may retaliate against the attacks on the Kurdish people.
“If the AKP (Justice and Development Party) doesn’t give up on such policies, Turkey, of course, turns into a battlefield. No one can expect the Kurds who have been exiled from their burned down villages to the cities of Turkey to stay quiet now against Kurdish provinces and villages being devastated.
“We don’t have an intention of taking the war to Turkey”
Bayık in response to ANF’s question that “Some Kurds criticize you saying ‘war takes place always in Kurdistan, PKK doesn’t carry the move into cities of Turkey’. What will you say about this at a time when action has been taken against military officers in a place where is central of militarism in Ankara?” has replied as follows:
“We don’t have an intention of taking the war to Turkey. We don’t have any problem with people of Turkey, society of Turkey.
“Kurdish people want to live freely and democratically in their own country. From this perspective, they resist in in their own land, they have been sustaining resistance in their own land for tens of years. And now, they want to govern their own cities, towns and neighborhoods by themselves.
“However, a dirty war is being conducted against Kurdish people. In this regard, the claim that war takes place always in Kurdistan is wrong. Of course the resistance must take place in Kurdistan. This how it is in all over the world, everyone resists to actualize freedom and democracy in their own country, own land. This is the right thing to do.
“Indeed, guerilla will conduct the war in Kurdistan mountains. It will run the resistance in Kurdistan.
“They want to govern their own neighborhoods, cities by various methods without expecting anything from Turkish state. From this point, approaches like ‘why is it being resisted in Kurdistan, the war should be taken to Turkey’ are wrong.
“Of course there will be resistance and actions against imperialistic system in the face of Turkey’s heavy attacks. These are in fact being done when it is necessary. That is a separate case.
“Approaches like ‘We will make all our effort to fight Turkey! We will wage war on Turkey’ are not right”. (AS/TK/DG)
