Turkey Welcomes 2015 With Snow

Turkey entered the new year with snow.

While snow created beautiful scenes in most cities, it also causes serious issues in some cities, especially in transport. 

In the northern province of Kastamonu, the snow started in the beginning of week and continued relentlessly.

Balik Lake located in 2,250 altitude in the western province of Ağrı's Taşlıçay district has partially frozen due to extreme weather conditions. 

In the central province of Eskişehir, sepiolite masters crafted a 2 meter long statue of Yunus Emre - a folk poet.

In the northern province of Kastamonu, municipal teams performed a great effort to climb on lamp posts.

In the northwestern province of Bolu, the snow reached a height og 35 cm. In Gölcük district, it reached 40 cm.

Snow also affected the eastern province of Kars province's Sarıkamış district.

Kids had the most fun out of the snow as usual.

Snow made the commute harder in the northwestern province of Balıkesir.

 In the western province of Manisa's Demirci district, road were blocked. Municipal teams intervened with snow vehicles and salt. 

Residents of in the western province of Izmir province enjoyed the rare snowfall happening in their high hills of their city. 

In the northwestern district of Gölpazarı, an ambulance got stuck on its way to pick up a 71 year old patient suffering from syncope.
