It has been reported that the person who attacked the Security Directorate and the Justice and Development Party (AKP) provincial buildings in İstanbul has been captured in Tekirdağ province.
İstanbul Intelligence and Anti-Terror Bureau Directorate units declared that DHKP-C member Ş.T. claimed to have perpetrated the attacks was captured.
A new suspect was announced in the evening hours
A person named Bilgehan Karpat, who was not announced to be searched for previously, was killed in Tekirdağ. State-run Anadolu Agency reported that Karpat is a DHKP-C member and carried out the attack on AKP Provincial Directorate. This report didn’t cover the suspect captured earlier.
Operations were carried out into 15 addresses and the suspect Ş.T. was caught in Tekirdağ yesterday (January 23).
What had happened?
Two attacks were launched with a flame thrower on İstanbul Security Directorate on Vatan Street at around 8 p.m. on January 20, 2017, and on AKP Provincial building at around 10:30 p.m. In both attacks, they escaped from the scene. (HK/TK)
