Support from Turkish Jewish Community to Syrian Refugee Children
Turkish Jewish Community has distributed school stationary at two schools in Antep to contribute to Syrian refugee children's education.
Sam Amiel from American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) supporting the project has stated that collaboration with Turkish Jewish Community is their most important Turkey strategy.
According to Şalom weekly newspaper, within the scope of the project actualized with the contribution of JDC, school bags and stationary equipment were distributed to around 2,000 students.
Amiel stated that they will continue to collaborate with Turkish Jewish Community to be able to help needers in case of war or natural disaster.

Has JDC arranged aid or charity organiation for Syrian refugees in past too?
This is the second project by JDC with respect to this terrible situation Syrians face. In 2012, JDC initiated an aid program for Syrian refugees living in camps in North Jordan.
Do you plan different aid programs in future?
The aid we brought into life in association with International Blue Cross in Gaziantep is one of three humanitarian aid projects on our agenda at the moment. Other than that, we are materializing a program helping and offering psychological counseling to women and children in cooperation with two foundations in Hungary. In future, we plan to offer different aids by determining needs.
How were the reactions at schools you visited in Gaziantep?
We were welcomed very warmly. Both staff and educators, and student welcomed us zestily.
Are there any other projects to be organized in cooperation with Turkish Jewish Community?
Collaborating with Turkish Jewish Community has become JDC's most important Turkey strategy to offer humanitarian aid at times of war or natural disaster.
Following İzmit and Van earthquakes, we have taken steps together. We are on the right track if we could both help people in need, and create a positive perception for the community. (YY/TK)
