Two soldiers lost their lives during a cross-border military operation in Iraq's Kurdistan Region,the Ministry of National Defense announced today (September 18).
Infantry lieutenant Harun Aslan and infantry specialist sergeant Gökhan Kılınç lost their lives and one soldier was wounded in the "Operation Claw-Eagle" in Haftanin area, according to the ministry statement.
They died as a result of a harassment fire with rocket launchers, the ministry said on Twitter and conveyed condolences to the soldiers' families.
The ministry in a Twitter statement on Friday conveyed condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers and the Turkish nation.
Turkey announced on June 17 that it launched the "Operation Claw-Tiger" against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). (TP/VK)
