The Ministry of National Defense has announced that one soldier has lost his life and three soldiers have been wounded in the cross-border military operation launched by Turkey into northern Syria.
A tent of condolence has been set up in front of the house of the deceased soldier in Mamak in the capital city of Ankara.
Releasing a written statement on 2.22 a.m. today (October 11), the Ministry of National Defense stated, "A heroic fellow soldier of ours has fallen martyr and three heroic soldiers have been wounded in a conflict with the PKK/YPG terrorists in Peace Spring Operation Area on October 10".

The Ministry of National Defense has made another statement on its Twitter account later in the day and announced that soldiers Oğuzhan Erdoğan and Hacı Bebek have also lost their lives in the operation.

Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş has also shared a brief message of condolence on his Twitter account:
"We have learnt it to our sorrow that our fellow citizen Ahmet Toçu living in Ankara, Mamak has fallen martyr in Operation Peace Spring.
"May God rest his soul and give patience to his loved ones.
"My condolences to our nation".
