Injured in explosion of an improvised explosive device last week during Operation Olive Branch continuing in Afrin, Syria, Infantry Sergeant Major Necmettin Yiğit has lost his life in Ankara Gülhane Training and Research Hospital where he was under treatment.
Aged 23, Yiğit was wounded in Afrin on March 22 and taken to Turkey for treatment. Turkish Armed Forces announced death of Yiğit this morning (March 29).
Infantry Contracted Private Gökhan Güllü had lost his life on the scene in the same explosion. Infantry Contracted Private Er Muhammed Hasan Çeçen, who was wounded on the same day, recovered from death.

Body of Yiğit will be interred in district of Niksar, Tokat following the funeral to be held in district of Gökçeli tomorrow.
According to the statement of the TAF, since January 20, 2018, when the "Operation Olive Branch" was launched with the support of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), 51 soldiers have lost their lives.
Launched on January 20, the operation is on its 69th day. (AS/TK)
