Gendarmerie Special Operation (JÖH) and Police Special Operation (PÖH) forces have entered Afrin through Gülbaba border in Kilis and Hassa border in Hatay, Doğan News Agency reported.
According to official sources, purpose of JÖH and PÖH was announced as to prevent infiltrations into “captured” villages and participate in residential area operations. Participation of JÖH and PÖH were announced on February 20 when pro-Syrian government forces headed towards Afrin.
On the other hand, tanks were deployed to the area as part of the operation.
Syria’s Representative to the UN: Ceasefire should include Afrin as well
In his statement, Syrian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Bashar Jaafari said that the UN passed 13 anti-terror resolutions and they all await “to be seriously put into effect”.
Stressing that the resolutions passed don’t include military operations launched against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and al Nusra Front, Jaafari emphasized that the resolution must include all Syria including Afrin region, Golan Heights and other regions where US forces are deployed.
