Heavily wounded during “Operation Olive Branch” launched into Afrin, Syria, Sergeant First Class Göksu Şahin lost his life in the hospital where he was taken to for treatment yesterday (February 18).
According to reports in the media, Infantry Sergeant Major Mustaf Eker wounded in a conflict that erupted between the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Turkey’s southeastern Şemdinli, Hakkari, lost his life also yesterday. Eker will be interred in Çorum.
Şahin, who participated in Operation Olive Branch, was severely injured on Saturday (February 17). Şahin (26), who was married with one child, lost his life despite all efforts. Şahin will be interred in Havza, Samsun.
The TAF had announced that 31 TAF members have lost their lives, 143 others have been wounded during the Operation Olive Branch launched on February 12 by the TAF and Free Syrian Army (FSA) into Afrin, northwestern Syria. (EA/TK)
