The General Staff has declared that two soldiers lost their lives, five others were wounded during the conflict that erupted yesterday (February 3) in the “Operation Olive Branch”.
Families of Infantry Commando Sergeant Major Bekir Evren (25) and Sergeant Major Selim Vurdal (25), who lost their lives in the conflict, were informed by the officials.
Vurdal will be interred in İskenderun today, and Evren, who has been married for a year and serving as sergeant major for 2.5 years, will be interred this afternoon in Osmaniye.
The General Staff said that seven soldiers lost their lives on Saturday during the Afrin operation.
In his statement yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson Bekir Bozdağ said, “We have had 13 martyrs and 39 wounded since the beginning of the Operation Olive Branch. There are 30 martyrs and 158 wounded among FSA (Free Syrian Army) members”. (AS/TK)
