A rocket launched on Reyhanlı has hit the wall garden of a home in Gültepe neighborhood in Reyhanlı, Hatay.
Wounded in the attack, 17-year-old Fatma Avlar lost her life in Hatay State Hospital where she was taken to for treatment. Another person was injured in her or her leg.
Reyhanlı Mayor Hüseyin Şanverdi stated that “the missiles were launched from Afrin by the YPG (People’s Protection Units)”.
Şanverdi said, “Over 30 missiles have hit our district so far. At least 50 people have been injured in these attacks, two people lost their lives”.
Following the attack, police, fire squad and medical teams have been sent to the scene.
Two missiles on Kilis
Two missiles were launched on Kilis yesterday (January 30).
One of the rockets fell to the olive grove in Öncüpınar Neighborhood on Kilis border zone. A large number of medical and security forces were sent to the area after the missile exploded.
The other missile hit a building in Ekrem Çetin Neighborhood in Kilis and exploded. No one were injured in the attack.
Four people lost their lives
After the Turkish Armed Forces launching the military operation into Afrin with the Free Syrian Army, missiles have been launched from the Syrian side to Reyhanlı, Hatay since January 21.
A person from Syria lost his or her life in a missile attack launched on Reyhanlı. On January 22, TEDAŞ worker Şahin Elitaş lost his life in a missile attack launched on Kırıkhan, Hatay.
Lastly, two more people lost their lives in a missile attack hitting a mosque in Kilis on January 24.
Agencies and authorities from Turkey announced that the attacks were launched by the “PYD/PKK/YPG/KCK”. According to Mezopotamya Agency citing Hawar News Agency, YPG General Commander Sîpan Hemo said, “Our forces have in no way targeted neither Kilis nor any other city”. (AS/TK)
