The father of one of the soldiers, the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and authorities from Ministry of National Defence have made statements as to the claim of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) to have burned the two kidnapped soldiers from Turkey to death.
While the father of one of the soldiers stated that they had not been informed about the issue and were just told that the incident was being examined, Kılıçdaroğlu noted "We are waiting for a response from the Government".
Authorities from the Ministry of National Defence stated that they were examining whether the footage was real and that they would make a statement afterwards.
The father: "They only say 'we are examining it'"
The father of one of the soldiers claimed to have been killed has spoken to Zeynep Yüncüler from BirGün daily. Stating that they had not been informed about the issue, the father noted;
"We are grieved. What can I say, we have no information, we have not been informed about the details at all. They just said that they had been examining the footage. And we are waiting."
Kılıçdaroğlu: "We are waiting for a response"
Holding a speech in Uşak province, Kılıçdaroğlu said;
"There are images showing how our soldiers are burned alive and are being shot in the head.
"We are waiting for an answer from the Government. They say that they are 'examining' but we demand a proper answer. You brought Syria upon us, and you have to account for it".
Minister of National Defence: Statement will be made after examination
Authorities of the Ministry of National Defence speaking to BBC Türkçe have said that the Ministry will make a statement following the examination of the footage shared on the social media yesterday (December 22) evening to find out whether it is real. (EKN/DG)
