People’s Protection Units (YPG) has made a statement on the Jarablus operations launched yesterday (August 24). YPG Spokesperson Rêdur Xelil talking to the Voice of America Radio has noted: “No one can order us to withdraw from our own lands”.
According to the report of Fırat News Agency (ANF) Xelil has stated that Turkey didn’t attack on ISIS ( Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) but on the Kurds and added that they would not draw back from the western side of Euphrates and no one could ask them to.
“Turkey intervening in Jarablus is a hostile attitude. The real target of this operation is rather the Kurdish people and their gains than the DAEŞ (ISIS). We take part within the Syrian Democratic Forces on the western side of Euphrates. We are on our own lands there. We will not leave our own lands just because some want us to. We won’t take action on demand of Turkey or any other force”.
“No one has the right to insist”
“The State of Turkey cannot shape our position there according to their own interests. Our forces will stay there and there will be no retreat. No one has the right to force YPG to draw back and we will not accept this”.
