Sendika.org editor Ali Ergin Demirhan was detained reportedly due to his news report titled “We can stop dictatorship” and his social media posts on charge of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization”.
Demirhan tweeted:
“Police this time came timely. We are going to give deposition due to the content of http://Sendika.Org. “Abnormal” censorship measures seemed to have started before the election”.
After an hour, Demirhan announced that he has been taken into custody:
“Our news report titled ‘We can stop dictatorship’ was considered a ‘terrorist propaganda’. I am being taken into custody”.
He has been released after deposition

"The deposition is over. A series of content including Latuff's caricature, news items about Afrin operation, the article titled 'we can stop dictatorship' was considered terrorism propaganda.
"We've explained that what we did was journalism, and now we are out, there's no problem. Thanks to everybody who gave their support".
He was detained after referendum too
Demirhan was detained on April 20, 2017 as well for “trying to make referendum results seem illegitimate”. On the same day, police raided and searched the bureau of the sendika.org.
After kept in custody for five days, Demirhan was released on April 25, 2017.
Blocked for 61 times
Being founded in 2001, sendika.org was blocked on July 25 2015 due to a content, which was not explained in the decision to close the website.
Being prominent with rights-based reports, the website continued its publication life through sendika62.org against blocking even though it keeps getting blocked.
