Four more people from Özgürlükçü Demokrasi have been detained during the raids launched on their homes. It was reported that three more people were detained later in the day.
Mezopotamya Agency reported that homes of some newspaper’s workers were raided by riot squad forces last night (April 4).
Reyhan Hacıoğlu, Pınar Tarlak, Hicran Ürün and its former staff Mehmet Beyazıt were detained in the raids.
In addition to that four figures, Nedim Demirkıran, M. Ali Çelebi and Ramazan Sola were taken into custody as well.
As no justification was given for the detentions, police said there is “sealing” order on the file, according to the agency.
Police confiscated gas mask used during news cover at Hacıoğlu’s home, and some books, letters, photographs and some issues of Özgürlükçü Demokrasi.
What happened?
Özgürlükçü Demokrasi newspaper and Gün Printing were raided by police on March 28 and it was reportedly transferred to the Saving Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) and a trustee was appointed.
25 people including Grant Holder of Özgürlükçü Demokrasi newspaper İhsan Yaşar and Owner of Gün Printing House Kasım Zengin were taken into custody during and after the raid.
The total number of detentions became 32
