Being detained as part of the “FETÖ (Fethullahist Terror Organization)” launched into Sözcü daily employees and its owner Burak Akbay, correspondent Gökmen Ulu and editor-in-chief in charge of website Medha Olgun were arrested on Saturday (May 27).
The daily’s financial affairs manager Yonca Yücekaleli was released.
Following the ruling, Mediha Olgun was sent to Bakırköy Women’s Prison.
Detention warrant issued for the owner
İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office demanded that a detention warrant be issued for Burak Akbay, the daily’s owner.
İstanbul Criminal Judgeship of Peace issued a detention warrant for Akbay on charge of “being a member of an armed organization”.
The journalists remained in custody for seven days. (YY/TK)
