Journalists Hasan Cemal has been acquitted in the lawsuit in which 13 years in prison was demanded on charge of PKK propaganda due to the third part of an article series titled “Withdrawal Diaries” he penned in 2013.
As the content of the article, its date and all file scope was considered, İstanbul 24th Heavy Penal Court ruled the element of crime wasn’t constituted.
The first hearing of the lawsuit was held on March 9, 2017.
According to T24 news website, Cemal’s interviews with Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members who were about to leave Turkey were cited as evidence after 45 months passed. (EKN/TK)
