After over 24 days in detention, journalists Tunca Öğreten, Mahir Kanaat and Ömer Çelik have been arrested. Metin Yoksu, Derya Okatan, and Eray Saygın, detained at the same time as their colleagues, have been released on probation.
Diken news site editor Öğreten, Dicle News Agency (DİHA) Diyarbakır News Director Çelik, İstanbul correspondent Yoksun, Birgün newspaper’s Kanaat, ETHA Director in Charge Okatan and Yolculuk Newspaper Concessionaire Saygın were brought to court following 24 days in detention.
Of the journalists referred to court for arrest by the 8th Criminal Judgeship of Peace following questioning by state prosecutors, Öğreten, Kanaat and Çelik were arrested on the charge of “[illegal] organization membership”. Yoksu, Okatan and Saygın were released on probation. (ÇT/TK)
