There has been an internet outage since 10.30 a.m. today (October 26) in the eastern and southeastern provinces of Turkey. Fixed-line and mobile internet access providers provide no connection.
The provinces which experience the internet outage are Diyarbakır, Mardin, Batman, Siirt, Van, Elazığ, Dersim, Antep, Urfa, Kilis and Adıyaman.
There has been no statement regarding the reason of the outage yet.
Reactions on social media
There are claims on the social media, that the internet outage was intended to serve the purpose to hinder the demonstrations to be staged against the detentions of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı.
There had also been a similar outage in the same provinces on September 11 as trustees were appointed to 28 municipalities 24 of which were occupied by Democratic Regions Party (DBP) (ÇT/DG)
