Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has announced that a broadcast ban has been imposed on the bomb attack in Cizre district of Şırnak, upon notice from the Prime Ministry.
The attack was launched by the PKK this morning (August 26) with a bomb-laden vehicle nearby the Riot Squad Forces Directorate in Şırnak’s Cizre district, and killed 11 police officers, injured 70 others.

The written statement made by RTÜK explains that “according to the Article 7 of the Law No. 6112 on the Establishment and Broadcasting Services of Radios and Televisions, a temporary broadcast ban can be imposed in cases when there is a high risk that the public order might be disturbed or if it is clearly required by the national security.
RTÜK has added that the explosion in Cizre on August 26 was interpreted within the above mentioned article and the broadcast ban was imposed upon notice from the Prime Ministry.
The extent of the broadcast ban

* With regards to the explosion; moment of the explosion, the scene of the incident after the explosion, the works conducted by public officials at the scene of the explosion and any footage, visual elements and similar elements of the persons who have lost their lives or been injured in the explosion as well as any kind of exaggerated expressions concerning these.
* Broadcasting about persons who are suspected to have been involved in the incident, other than those who have already been mentioned by official authorities; about the locations of these suspects, vehicles they use and other similar elements in order not to interfere with the process of solving the case, capturing the suspects and identifying their contacts.
