Tuğba Tekerek taken into custody while taking photographs to report breaking news, has been released.
Tekerek was referred to court after the procedures had been completed at the police station. Tekerek’s attorney Veysel Ok talking to bianet has noted that she was released before the prosecution even took her testimony and added; “Her detention was so unlawful, that the prosecution released her before giving testimony”.
Police: If you love your acquaintances, look away when you see an incident
Tekerek holding a statement in front of the court has noted that upon asking the police for permission to inform her acquaintances about her detention and saying “don’t you have acquaintances, wouldn’t they worry, if they weren’t told anything?”, the police said “We think about our acquaintances and look away when we see an incident on the street, you should also do the same and look away if you care about your acquaintances”.
Tekerek has also pointed out that nine individuals were staying in the cells in which only a single person was supposed to stay and there were 23 persons in two rooms in total including a 8 months pregnant woman who was hindered to see her acquaintances or her attorneys. (EA/HY/DG)
