German public channel ARD correspondent and Cairo bureau director, Volker Schwenck hasn’t been allowed to enter Turkey. Schwenk is being kept in Atatürk Airport in the section for the deportees.
Schwenck shared the “unadmissible passenger form” as to the exclusion order on Twitter with the following message:
“The last stop is İstanbul. My entrance to Turkey is being denied. I was told there is a registry on my name. I am a journalist. Is that a problem?”

Southeast German Radio Television Institute (SWR) announced that Schwenck has been seized as he came to İstanbul from Cairo to make news of refugees on Turkey-Syria border.
According to the report on Deutsche Welle, the SWR spokesperson has declared that Schwenck has been kept in Atatürk Airport in the section for the deportees.
SWR’s article stated that the reasons of why the journalist hasn’t been allowed in Turkey are unknown. It was expressed that German Embassy and the Minister of Foreign Affairs have been informed on the matter.
RSF: Journalism kicked out!
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) on its Turkish account has announced the denial of Schwenck’s entrance to Turkey with the comment “Journalism kicked out!”.
