Arrested JINHA (Women’s News Agency) correspondent Beritan Canözer has been released after the first hearing of her trial yesterday (March 29).
Journalists from various provinces, Free Journalists Association, and News Watch team were also in Diyarbakır Court to follow Canözer’s hearing.
The next hearing of the trial will be held on May 10 before 4th Diyarbakır Criminal High Court.
According to BİA Media Watch Report, there are 31 imprisoned journalists in Turkey.
Beritan Canözer had been taken into custody during following up the protest march against the curfew declared in Sur district of Diyarbakır for being “feverish”.

After being held in the Anti-Terror Department, she had been put on trial on December 19 and was arrested for the notes she had taken for her report and her posts on social media.
According to the indictment presented to 4th Diyarbakır Criminal High Court, she is being accused of “propagandizing for the terrorist organization”, and “being a member of the terrorist organization”.
Canözer had received the Special Jury Award within the 19th Metin Göktepe Journalism Awards. (NV/DG)
