Hürriyet Daily's Chairwoman, Vuslat Doğan Sabancı made a statement about the attacks against Hürriyet.
"We are pointed as a target "
“Doğan Media Group, my father Aydın Doğan especially, journalists, authors and directors working for our media group are pointed as targets with lies and aspersions while saying we are supporting terrorism.
"No one can judge our patriotism.
"It is a part of intimidation policy"
"As Doğan Media Group, we have been struggling for last 8 years. We have faced a great tax penalty and we have been put on trial repeatedly. They make effort to make us punished.
Sabancı indicated it was a part of intimidation policy.
“We are not afraid of being targeted, attacks with stick and stones and intimidation.
“We only aim to enlighten our readers quickly and properly with true information and we will continue to be journalists determinedly."

What happened?
A group of perpetrators attacked the building of Hüriyyet Daily on September 7 upon the reactions against Dağlıca attack which left 16 soldiers dead. One of the perpetrators was Justice and Development Party (AKP) İstanbul deputy Abdurrahim Boynukalın. On september 8, Hürriyet was attacked for a second time. the perpetrators were thrown out by the security guards.
