In a statement released by the Central Council of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB), it has been announced that Aydın Medical Chamber Chair Dr. Esat Ülkü has died of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to the statement of the TTB Central Council, Dr. Ülkü was in treatment for COVID-19 infection in the Intensive Care Unit of the Ege University Faculty of Medicine's Department of Pulmonary Diseases.
Ülkü lost his life due to the disease today (October 13).
Fincancı: We are very sorry
In his message of condolences, the TTB has said:
"Hospitalized in Nazilli Public Hospital on October 3, 2020, Aydın Medical Chamber Chair Esat Ülkü was referred to Ege University Faculty of Medicine Research and Application Hospital. Born in 1953, Dr. Ülkü graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1978. Gynecologist Dr. Ülkü was married and was a father of two. A few months ago, Dr. Ülkü was elected the new Chair of Aydın Medical Chamber after the Aydın Medical Chamber General Assembly. We express our condolences to his grieved family, friends, all health workers and the TTB community."
TTB Central Council Chair Prof. Şebnem Korur Fincancı has also shared a message on Twitter and said, "We are very sorry; we have lost not only our colleague, but an award-winning photography artist as well. He will accompany us with his memories and art." (EMK/SD)
