First trial in which nine people detained during June 19 2016 Trans Pride March on charge of contravening the Law on Demonstrations and Rallies has been held.
In the hearing held at İstanbul Courthouse 60th Criminal Court of First Instance, seven of the suspects reiterated their testimonies which they gave at police station. They explained that the police officers insulted and threatened and handcuffed them from behind. Defending that no crime was constituted, the suspects’ lawyers demanded acquittal.
The court adjourned the hearing to May 24, 11:30 a.m. to have the testimonies of the two suspects who didn’t come to the trial.
The ones who were detained during the 7th Trans Pride March, which was banned by İstanbul Governorship and obstructed by police officers, were released after their testimonies were received. (BK/TK)
