7th Trans Pride week started with theme “Resistance and Peace”.
In the press statement held at the Human Rights Association (İHD) for the opening of the week organized by the İstanbul LGBTI Solidarity Association, those killed and wounded in the Orlando massacre were memorialized.
“As we prepare to welcome the trans pride week which we are organizing the 7th of it, we have shaken once more with the news coming from the US. The offensive which was launched on Yezidi, Kurdish, Nusayri, Turkmen and Christian societies in the past now targets LGBTIs in the other end of the world. We have the will to stop this course of event and we are not remaining silent!”
The first event of the week “I am Making Peace with My Body – Sex Experiences of the Trans” forum will be held in Maçka Demokrasi Park at 7 p.m. today (June 13).
An attack was launched on a gay club in Orlando province of State of Florida in the United States on last Sunday (June 12) at 2 a.m. local time, killing 50 people and wounding 53 others. The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack.
