Angel of Turkey Trans Beauty Contests will take place tomorrow in İstanbul.
Name of the contest that started in 2014 under the name of “Grand Trans Beauty Contest” has been changed to Angel of Turkey in 2015.
The contest intends to bring together the trans people being excluded in many areas of life and subjected to transphobia, and strengthens the solidarity among trans friendly people.
Organization team briefly explains the contest as follows:
“Goal of the contest is to mark our trans fellows who are sometimes slaughtered by society, and to show that show transsexuality being constantly excluded from the society is actually no different from the rest of the society. Furthermore, we are aware how important is the change in trans people’s bodies and lives; they face serious reactions from their family, society, friend circle for just undergoing transformation. So this reason, only the trans people who have undergone transformation will participate as contesters.
“Angel of Turkey Beauty Contest commission predominantly consists of transsexual and trannies. We also have trans friendly, LGBTI and heterosexual friends in the commission”. (ÇT/TK)
