The objection to the access block imposed on Yeni Yaşam newspaper's website on September 25, 2020 has been rejected by the judgeship.
Access to "www.yeniyasamgazetesi1.com" was blocked by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) after the Hatay 1st Penal Judgeship of Peace gave a decision of access block upon the request of the Hatay Governor's Office Provincial Gendarmerie Regimental Command.
The newspaper's appeal to the İstanbul 7th Penal Judgeship of Peace against this decision of access block has been rejected.
What happened?
Access has been blocked to the website of Yeni Yaşam (New Life) newspaper by the decision of the Hatay 1st Penal Judgeship of Peace.
Making a statement about the block dated September 25, 2020, Yeni Yaşam newspaper said, "Amid increasing pressures on free press and the opposition, an access block has been imposed on our newspaper's yeniyasamgazetesi1.com address."
When readers try to access the website in Turkey, they see a blue page, with a message in Turkish and English: "The protection measure has been taken for this website (yeniyasamgazetesi1.com) according to decision nr. 2020/3406 D.İş dated 25/09/2020 of 'Hatay 1st Penal Judgeship of Peace' has been implemented by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority." The statement of the newspaper also read that "they had not yet been officially notified of the access block.
