Informant Files Complaint Against the Attorney Who Called Him an Informant

Prisoner İ.Ö., who calls himself a long-time informant, has filed a criminal complaint against an attorney "because he called him an informant."

In his several depositions and petitions, İ.Ö. previously indicated that "he has been working as an informant for the police and working for the state."

Writing a petition in prison, İ.Ö. alleged that, by calling him an informant, the attorney "made him a target for the organization and revealed the files consisting of his criminal acts and his convictions."

An investigation was filed against the attorney.

In his deposition, attorney B.Ç. indicated that "İ.Ö. himself stated that he was an informant." The investigation ended in a verdict of non-prosecution.

'I was and still am a witness in several cases'

Behind bars as a convict, İ.Ö. addressed a petition of criminal complaint to the prosecutor's office. "I gave some information about Cemalettin Çınar put on trial at the İstanbul 12th Heavy Penal Court and I am witness in the case", said İ.Ö. in the introduction to his petition.

He continued as follows: "I was and still am a witness in several other cases. The attorney of Celalettin Çınar mentioned my criminal record, said that he looked at my depositions and that I was a police informer, thereby making me a target for the terrorist organization. By examining my deposition, he violated my personal rights and put my life in danger by calling me an 'informer' and by making me a target for the terrorist organization. I request that the necessary legal actions be taken against the attorney."

An investigation was launched against B.Ç. after this petition. Deposing to the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, attorney B.Ç. said, "It was İ.Ö. himself who said that he was a police informant in his deposition." The investigation ended in a decision of non-prosecution.

Court searches the witness but cannot find him

On the other side, in one of the cases where İ.Ö. is also a witness, it is also disputed whether one of the other witnesses really exists or not.

In his petition to court, attorney B.Ç. requested an inquiry into "whether witness Y.K. really exists or not."

Accepting this request, the court sent official letters to several institutions, including the Civil Registry. However, no information has yet been acquired as to the existence of the witness. The trial is still going on.

He filed a complaint against his father again

Having filed a criminal complaint against his father, İ.Ö. has deposed in another case that "he entered the organization through his father."

Behind bars for 13 years, 36-year-old İ.Ö. will have the right to be released on probation in 2022.

He has been convicted of the following crimes: Purchasing, having and possessing unregistered firearms and bullets; injury; armed looting; deprivation of liberty; actual bodily harm.
