Progressive Legists Union (ÇHD) Chair and a People’s Law Bureau lawyer Selçuk Kozağaçlı was arrested at around 7 p.m. yesterday (November 13).
Following a detention of four days, he gave his deposition at İstanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan on charge of “being a member of an armed terror organization”. Prosecutor’s Office sent Kozağaçlı to Criminal Judgeship of Peace for arrest. Kozağaçlı was arrested following the questioning.
Ahead of the questioning, Kozağaçlı said:
“I’ve always felt myself as a child of this people, I’ve felt myself as someone owing to them. We are happy that they look after us in return. They know that we are their children, they know that we fight for them. This will continue to be so”.
Soma questioning at the prosecutor’s Office
Representing victim families in Soma trial, Kozağaçlı was asked about “wandering around a house in İzmir” at the prosecutor’s Office.
Kozağaçlı said that he “didn’t wanter around the house”, he was a guest at that house during Soma hearings and the house is owned by one of his colleagues from the ÇHD.
“The file doesn’t include what actions of Kozağaçlı led to accusations”
Lawyer Hasan Fehmi Demir said that Kozağaçlı’s deposition “revealed that the accusations don’t reflect the reality”.
Besides, Demir said that the indictment doesn’t mention which of the accusations were realized when by what actions of Kozağaçlı. Demir stated that “crime was attempted to be constituted by means of abstract claims”.
