In the State of Emergency, two more Statutory Decrees; decrees No. 677 and 678 have been issued in the Official Gazette.
In Statutory Decree No. 677, 375 associations and nine media outlets claimed to conduct activities against the national security, 15,726 public officials including 242 academics were discharged.
In the Statutory Decree No. 678, some amendments have been made certain laws.
A new regulation was introduced which requires that the children and brothers of those who had lost their lives trying to prevent the coup attempt by the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) and subsequent actions although it was not their duties, are exempted from mandatory military service if they wish.
Those among the abovementioned who are already fulfilling their military services will be discharged on their demand.
Progressive Legists' Association (ÇHD), Libertarian Jurists Association (ÖHD), Human Rights Research Association (İHAD) and Gündem Children's Foundation are among the closed foundations.
The closed newspapers are; Ekspres daily (Adana), Türkiye Manşet daily (Çorum), Dağyeli daily (Hatay), Akis daily (Kütahya), İpekyolu daily (Ordu), Son Dakika daily (İzmir) and Yedigün daily (Ankara).
Habereksen Magazine issued in Samsun and Batman FM radio were also closed.
175 associations, 18 foundations and one healthcare organization were taken out of the list of institutions closed in the Law No. 6749.
15,726 public officials serving in Military Departments, Security Directorates, Ministries and their affiliated institutions as well as in the public service were discharged.
In the Statutory Decree No. 677, 1,259 personnel were discharged from Land Forces Command, 391 others from Navy Forces Command, 338 from the Turkish Air Forces Command, 403 others from Gendarmerie General Command and 7,586 personnel from Security Directorate.
In addition, 5,749 public officials were also discharged including 1,184 personnel were discharged from the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), 94 others from the Presidency of Religious Affairs, 45 personnel from the public channel TRT, 15 personnel from High Council for Judges and Prosecutors and 14 from the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD)
157 public officials were returned back to their positions. (EKN/DG)
