242 academics from 21 universities, 942 administrative personnel from 89 universities have been suspended by a Statutory Decree No. 677.
1,262 academics by the Statutory Decree No. 675 enacted on October 29, and 2,346 academics by the Statutory Decree published on Official Gazette on September 2 were suspended. The number of suspended academics has climbed to 3,850 with the latest Statutory Decree.
The number of academics suspended from 21 universities is:
Afyon Kocatepe University (14), Akdeniz University (9), Aksaray University (3), Amasya University (1), Bülent Ecevit University (5), Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (59), Dicle University (7), Gazi University (35), Gebze Teknik University (5), Hitit University (7), İzmir Katip Çelebi University (20), Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University (1), Kastamonu University (1), Kocaeli University (2), Mustafa Kemal University (5), Muş Alparslan University (1), Ondokuz Mayıs University (52), Osmaniye Korkut Ata University (5), Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University (2), Sakarya University (3), Yıldız Technical University (5).
According to the information on website of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the number of instructors in 2016 was 146,124. The suspended academics so far constitutes 2.6% of all academics. (BK/TK)
