12,801 police officers have been laid off, according to a statement issued on website of the Turkish National Police.
12,801 police officers, 2,253 of whom are superiors, whose link or affiliation with the Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ/PDY) have been laid off, the statement read.
37 personnel have been suspended at the central units of the Ministry of Interior.
Lay off in consequence of investigation
According to newspapers’ reports, 1,350 security staff in Ankara, 570 in İzmir, 650 in Diyarbakır, 203 in Konya, 116 in Kayseri, 131 in Kocaeli and 350 in Hakkari were laid off.
The laid off staff will be notified today.
The investigation launched into the laid off personnel will be run by police chief inspectors.
The police officers who are “determined to be linked with the FETÖ/PYD” in consequence of the investigations will be dismissed from profession. (AS/TK)
