Police conducted an operation in Anadolu Courthouse in Kartal province of İstanbul in the morning hours today (August 16). Detention orders have been issued for 83 judicial personnel.
As a part of the investigation carried out by İstanbul Public Chief Officer Gökalp Kökçü into the Gülen Community following the coup attempt on July 15, 129 staff members in İstanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan as well as Gaziosmanpaşa Courthouse, 44 personnel in Bakırköy Courthouse and 17 judicial staff members in Büyükçekmece Courthouse were taken into custody yesterday (August 15).

Within the operations carried out today, the offices of personnel were searched and those taken into custody have been referred to İstanbul Security Directorate to testify.
126 detentions in Ankara
Last week, operations were also conducted at courthouses in Ankara on August 8.
As a part of the investigation carried out by Ankara Security Directorate Public Security Department into the coup attempt on July 15, 126 court personnel were detained who were in service of Ankara Justice Palace; Gölbaşı, Polatlı, Bala, Çubuk and Kalecik Courthouses; the additional building in Balgat where labour and commercial courts are located; the additional building in Yenimahalle holding the forced execution office and the enforcement court as well as the Ankara Regional Administrative Court.
648 judges and prosecutors
Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ in his statement last week, said that there were 16,000 persons detained and approximately 6,000 others in custody whose procedures are still in progress and added “there are around 7,668 probation orders”.
In operations against judges and prosecutors, 648 have been detained. (AS/DG)
