Judge Muzaffer Şakar, who was among the 648 judges and prosecutors taken into custody upon the decision of the Ankara Public Chief Prosecutor's Office on August 12, has been released.
Muzaffer Şakar is the Co-Chair of the Democratic Judgement Foundation, judge of Diyarbakır Court and a former member of the Human Rights Institution.
Rights organizations including notably the Civil Society Foundation in Penal System (CİSTT), Human Rights Foundation, Helsinki Citizens Assembly (hYd), Human Rights Research Association (İHAD), Human Rights Association (İHD), Human Rights Agenda Association (İHGD) which also come together under the umbrella of Platform for the Protection of Journalism and Safety of Journalists (IHOP) had stated that Şakar could have no relation to the investigation into the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) and demanded his release.
Democratic Judgement Foundation has announced Şakar's release on the official Twitter account of the foundation. (HK/DG)
