Sentence has been passed on the four suspects tried over being member of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and killing three people two of whom are security officials in Niğde.
In the hearing at the Niğde Heavy Penal Court, Çendrim Ramadani has been sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for five times, Benyamin Xu for four times, Muhammed Zakiri for one time, and Fuad Mövsimöv to 14 years in prison.
The car carrying Ramadani, Xu, Zakiri and Mödvödöv was stopped in Ulukışla of Niğde province on March 20, 2014, and that pursuant to them firing Gendarmerie Staff Sergeant Adil Kozanoğlu and police officer Adem Çoban were killed, seven soldiers and one person on the passenger bus were injured.
Truck driver Turan Yaşan was also shot to death as he was fleeing.
Benyamin Xu said the following through translator:
“I was under death threat since the beginning of the incident. I didn’t kill anybody. I was a child at the time of the incidents. I was cheated on promise of being brought back to my hometown. I want to return home”.
Azerbaijani Fuad Mövsümov also refuted the charges: “Lost justice cannot be retrieved by punishing an innocent person. Be understanding to me”. (AS/TK)
