25 students and graduates from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSÜ) taken into custody in house raids yesterday (March 6) were delivered to the prosecution
17 persons in total have been released including 12 persons who have given testimony to the prosecution in İstanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan and five others who have not been interrogated. The remaining eight will be referred to the prosecution tomorrow.
“Academics’ boycott addressed in the interrogation”
Attorney Efkan Bolaç talking to bianet had pointed out that the students taken into custody had in common that had earlier submitted a petition to the dean’s office and expressed that they did not want to take lectures from Assist. Prof. Dr. Esra Keskinkılıç who taught Ottoman language at Department of Turkish Language and Literature.
Attorney Nuriye Alsancak talking to bianet has noted that during their interrogation in the police station, the students were told that they had been taken into custody over a complaint from the aforementioned academic.
Alsancak has added that the students were asked why they had attended the boycott against the academic and whether they had forced others to attend too.
Noting that no such question was addressed in the interrogation by the prosecution, Alsancak has stated “They have asked about every action in the last two years, every meeting and social media postings”. (BK/DG)
