İstanbul Water and Sewerage Administration’s (İSKİ) subcontracted workers, who learned that they have been left out of the scope of statutory decree on tenure of sub-contracted workers, have decided to strike action for three days in İstanbul-wide.
Gathering in front of İSKİ General Directorate, waste water and collector workers want to learn whether they will be tenured.
One of the workers Ozan Mollaoğlu said, “If waste water workers and clean water supply workers don’t work even for a day, there will be serious consequences. The job requires a day and night hard work. We remain a bit silent but in fact, we have power. We wanted to realize it”.
Underlining that İSKİ Kadıköy Provincial Directorate pressures the subcontractors, Mollaoğlu said that the Directorate threatens them “We will fire you if you participate in the resistance”.
“Our all friends maintain a family. We are trying to hold a stance in the resistance”.
Besides, Mollaoğlu said that the workers in the İSKİ have been threated and they were told “You will be fired even if you don’t come to work for one day”. (EC/EKN/TK)
